RED AT DAVOS

Bono, co-founder of (RED), Bill Gates, founder and Chairman of Microsoft and Michael Dell founder and Chairman of Dell, together at the World Economic Forum announce that Dell and Microsoft are joining (RED) to help fight AIDS in Africa, with the introduction of a series of Dell(PRODUCT) RED personal computers powered by Windows Vista Ultimate (PRODUCT) RED.

It's a nice thought, that in buying your PC under this Dell/Microsoft/Red arrangement, you would actually be helping someone in need. How does that thought mesh with reality though? You always should look a gift horse in the mouth to see if it's for real & this one, sadly, is not. Even AIDS experts now agree that donor money is better spent on basic health needs and clean water than on AIDS relief to help people in Africa (see the Associated Press 1/18/08 article entitled "Experts Call for Rethinking AIDS Money" at http://tinyurl.com/37zj3y ).
